Paolo Consorti
After his academic studies in the Arts, he made his debut in 1991 with a solo exhibition at the Palazzo Ducale in Urbino. Since then his work has been exhibited in private galleries and public spaces in Italy and abroad. He has participated in the 54th International Art Biennial in Venice, two National Art Quadrennials, the Prague Biennale and the Moscow Biennale for Young Art. His work has been the work of art critics, writers and philosophers including Hans Georg Gadamer, Achille Bonito Oliva, Pierre Restany, Marisa Vescovo, Flaminio Gualdoni, Piero Melograni, Valerio Deho', Gabriele Simongini, Lorenzo Canova, Gianluca Marziani, Luca Beatrice, Andrea Bruciati, Pino Corrias.
His painting is imbued with elements of the past, but projected peremptorily into the future. Cataclysms and upheavals are the essence of his paintings, rebellions of nature and divine anger at the same time. But also hope. Constant thought that man can somehow reinvent himself and rise again.
"Mixed media on canvas", that's what the Consorti technique is called. That is to build sets, prepare the characters, shape them, dress them, make them talk, dialogue. Then photograph the whole thing. A mental attitude that is, basically, a photographic look. "I'm interested in the invisible side of reality, those aspects of the individual's life that are linked to his primary needs, the most intimate, ups and downs" says Paolo Consorti. Part painter, part director. He is also the author of some extraordinary videos entitled "Dentro le segrete cose" and "Sapore aspro d'amore".
